How grade thresholds work
After every exam session, Cambridge sets the minimum raw mark needed for each grade on each component (paper), then combines weighted component marks into an overall threshold for each syllabus option. Thresholds move a little every session to keep grades comparable across years — that’s why a “hard” paper usually has lower boundaries.
Grade A* is only awarded at the whole-syllabus level, never on an individual component. On IGCSE core-tier options the best available grade is C — which is why some rows show no A*/A/B threshold.
